First time trimming a rose plant

Trimming a rose for the first time was pretty intimidating. What if I made a mistake? I felt like I wasn't blueblood enough to be trimming a rose, even touching a rose plan really. Roses are the domain of people with money or people who want to appear to have money.  Anyway, I trimmed the rose plant. Was afraid it wouldn't grow back but it did. Probably didn't trim it enough really. Now I'm stuck with the question of how to trim it properly next time. I really should make more of an effort but I find roses a bit uninspiring. Sure they look beautiful but they don't really have too much utility beyond that. Am I that much of a utilitarian? Maybe I had bad experience with a rose bush when I was younger which I don't remember.

Supermarket garlic bulbs

I planted a few garlic bulbs from the supermarket. They have germinated and are doing well. Can't believe it. I heard the bulbs are sprayed with stuff that makes them not germinate if planted but maybe they weren't. They weren't organic. It was my first time planting something for a while. Was so buzzed to see them germinate. It's amazing how Nature does that. Surprised at how thrilled I was to see it. Wasn't expecting that either. Not sure how long they took to germinate. Will have to check that. Definitely would recommend.
